Memoria is a documentary play about memory and the International Memorial Human Rights Organisation, written by Nana Grinstein and directed by Anastasia Patlay.
The premiere of Memoria took place in Moscow in 2022. Shortly after the premiere, Russia attacked Ukraine and Memoria was no longer allowed to be performed.
Anastasia Patlay, who left Russia after the start of the war in Ukraine, was the first artist to take part in the Artists at Risk residency programme at Brechthaus Augsburg in 2023.
As part of this programme, she created a new version of the play Memoria, which was specially conceived for the Augsburg Brechtfestival 2023. In addition to the Brechtfestival, the production was also shown at the Münchner Kammerspiele in 2024. Will be performed at the International Theatre Festival Divadelná Nitra in June 2025.

Deutsche Welle:
“And then there were questions about the meaning of some episodes, about possible performances of the play in other German cities, about the new plans of the author and the director, about the departure from Russia due to the war - basically about almost everything. Despite the late evening, the conversation went on for more than an hour. Many regretted that there had only been a single performance in Munich and that it was therefore not even possible to recommend to friends that they should definitely see the play”.
Radio Svoboda:
“One of the strongest impressions comes from the fact that in the play it is difficult to distinguish between the chronicle of a modern trial and the actual protocols of the time. There is a complete stylistic correspondence and the same level of shameless absurdity”.
